Catholic Church Insurance (CCI) will cease offering workers compensation insurance on 29 June 2023

I am writing to advise you that Catholic Church Insurance (CCI) will cease offering workers compensation insurance on 29 June 2023.

CCI will continue to honour and manage existing claims, and any new claims lodged on current in force policies for incidents that occur before their expiry date. No new business will be written, and no renewals will be offered following expiry of the current policy period.

Australia’s insurance regulator, the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA) and all state and territory workers compensation agencies have been advised of CCI’s decision and CCI is working closely with APRA and other regulators.

Why is CCI Exiting Workers Compensation Business?

The Chair of CCI Ms Joan Fitzpatrick said today:

“We acknowledge with deep regret that this will result in a loss of employment for a number of CCI staff. They have been advised of the decision.

The closure of our workers compensation division to new business and renewals reflects the significant financial challenges CCI continues to experience across this line of business.”

What does this mean for you?

As the CCI workers compensation insurance business is closing on 29 June 2023 you will require workers compensation insurance and will need to source alternative cover beyond that date.
