What happens if an employer is uninsured?

If you are an employer and are uninsured, you are liable for the cost of claims if your workers suffer a work related injury or industrial disease. You could also be liable for costs if a court awards damages.

WorkCover WA may also prosecute you as well, with fines of up to $5,000 for each worker and penalties equal to the insurance premiums you avoided in the five years prior to your conviction. For more information about your obligations, please visit WorkCover WA.
